A relaunch of the brand with the Builders Cup career, focused mainly on developing a specific car.

Forza Motorsport from 2023 is not another numbered installment but a reboot of the brand, meant to place Forza's circuit-racing branch on the foundations of a new generation. The career mode is arranged into series called the Builders Cup, in which the player isn't racing just for position but mainly developing a specific car: driven kilometers, clean corners, and overtakes earn points that can be spent on individual parts. The car thus improves alongside the driver, and upgrades are a matter of work put in rather than wallet size. A key new feature is also more detailed tire physics and changing conditions, where track temperature and grip shift during a race, so the ideal line in the final third looks different than in the first.

Technically, the game bet on a combination of high frame rate and ray tracing, which works on Series X even during actual driving, not just in garage inspections. A dynamic day cycle changes how tracks are lit, wet asphalt reflects the lights of the pit lane, and the car models rank among the most detailed in the genre. Sound remains a strong point: engines are recorded from real machines, and the difference between a naturally aspirated six-cylinder and a turbocharged four-cylinder is audible immediately. Assist features range from a fully assisted mode for newcomers to bare-bones driving without any support at all.

Reception was cooler than Microsoft had hoped. Reviewers praised the handling model, the tire work, and the visuals, but criticized long holdups in the progression system, technical issues at launch, and a rather sparse track selection compared to earlier entries. Many of these complaints eased over subsequent updates. Today Forza Motorsport is a solid choice for players who want to find an honest simulator beneath an arcade-like surface, and together with Forza Horizon it shows well just how differently the racing genre can be approached. The online portion, moreover, keeps order thanks to a safe-driving rating, so races don't end in a pile-up in the very first corner, and players get matched with similarly minded opponents.
