The last entry in the series on Xbox One; over 700 cars and native 4K at 60 frames per second.

Forza Motorsport 7 was the last entry in the main simulation series on Xbox One and also the most extensive one — it offered over seven hundred licensed cars and more than thirty tracks, including the return of the iconic Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit. Turn 10 Studios made full use of the Xbox One X's power for native 4K resolution at sixty frames per second, making the game one of the visually most impressive racing simulations of the generation, with dynamic weather including storms, fog, and changing daylight affecting traction.

A new track conditions system allowed variable weather to be set directly for individual career races, increasing variety and difficulty; driving in a downpour on the Nordschleife ranks among the most demanding experiences console racing offered at the time. The career mode connected individual car series into a comprehensive cross-section of automotive history, from formula cars to legendary muscle cars, divided into progressively unlocked league tiers. The game also offered full support for wheels and pedals as well as an elaborate livery editor, with which the community created and shared thousands of custom car designs.

The collectible reward-crate system, in which players unlocked cards with cars, add-ons, and modifiers for race wins, caused controversy; due to its resemblance to loot boxes and a planned link to paid currency, it became a target of sharp criticism, and Turn 10 eventually removed the microtransactions from the game. Despite this controversy, the driving physics, the Drivatar system, and the audiovisual treatment of the engines remained at the absolute top of the genre, and the game kept its reputation as the most extensive console simulator of its time. Forza Motorsport 7 thus defined, through its sheer scope, the peak of the brand's simulation focus before the series went quiet for several years and returned only as a reboot on the next console generation.
