Battles take place fluidly in real time and the player controls them through the ingenious Gambit system, with which you program the behaviour of your entire party. Expansive locations, the license system and hunting powerful monsters offer dozens of hours of content. The mature script and adult storytelling shifted the series towards a more realistic tone. A mature, sophisticated JRPG that was ahead of its time with its clever approach to combat automation.
