Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening

After the lacklustre second game, the series returned in dazzling form. The third entry is a prequel about a young, cocky Dante and offers the series' deepest combat system with switchable styles and an arsenal of weapons. The notoriously high difficulty will test even veterans, the boss fights are memorable and the soundtrack rips. Expressive combos and the sheer joy of movement turn the game into a spectacle. The new master of the sword, Vergil, delivered one of the best rivals in gaming history. One of the best action titles on the console ever and a benchmark for the genre.
