Polda 2
Polda 2 continues the successful first installment and once again builds on the combination of a classic point-and-click adventure with a strongly comedic tone, this time with an expanded story and a greater number of locations for the player to explore while uncovering a new criminal case. The clumsy police officer once again finds himself entangled in strange cases and grotesque characters, while the gameplay stays faithful to the proven formula — the player combines items, holds conversations, and moves through a plot full of parodic references to the era's reality and social conditions, with several scenes deliberately parodying clichés from other popular adventure games and films.
Compared to the first installment, the sequel offers somewhat more polished graphics and more content, while retaining the same distinctive humor and voice acting that had been a key draw for fans of the first Polda and had contributed decisively to the overall impression of the game. The environments and characters are once again rendered in a cartoonish style that underlines the absurdity of the situations the protagonist repeatedly finds himself in through no fault of his own, and the music and sound design nicely complement the overall lighthearted atmosphere of the whole game, while individual locations offer a greater number of side interactions and jokes to discover.
Polda 2 confirmed that the first installment's success was no fluke and cemented the series' position as one of the most popular domestic gaming brands of the turn of the millennium. For players at the time it was a welcome continuation of beloved humor in a somewhat more varied guise; today it is seen as a natural part of the golden age of Czech adventure game creation alongside the first installment. Together with the other entries in the series it helped define what a successful domestic comedic adventure for a broad audience could look like, and it cemented the series' reputation as a reliable brand that players looked forward to with every new sequel.
