Call of Duty: Ghosts

Akční střílečka (FPS) 2013 Infinity Ward Call of Duty ⏱ Medium · ~3–10 h

A classic FPS campaign about the Ghosts unit, rounded out with multiplayer and the Extinction survival mode.

The Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty: Ghosts was released on November 5, 2013, alongside the PlayStation 3 and PC editions, still ahead of the Xbox One's market launch. It includes the complete story campaign about the Ghosts unit, multiplayer, the Squads social system, and the Extinction co-op survival mode; the game was developed by Infinity Ward.

It is technically the least demanding of the era's versions of the game, adapted to the Xbox 360 hardware, which by 2013 was near the end of its life cycle. The game runs at a lower resolution and with simpler textures than on Xbox One, but the content is entirely identical – no mission, weapon, or multiplayer map is missing compared to the next-gen release. Thanks to a marketing deal between Activision and Microsoft, Xbox 360 players also received all four paid map packs – Onslaught, Devastation, Invasion, and Nemesis – earlier than players on PlayStation and PC.

For many players, this was the last major entry in the series they could play on Xbox 360 before moving to the new generation, making Ghosts, together with the Xbox One version, one of the last titles released simultaneously for both generations of Microsoft consoles.

The campaign is told mostly from the perspective of brothers Logan and David Walker and their father, a special forces veteran, and emphasizes cinematic, action-driven sequences, including a space mission and submarine action. Even on Xbox 360, the entire story structure and all launch multiplayer maps were preserved, just with simpler textures and lower resolution due to the console's age.

The game also featured a reworked multiplayer engine with dynamic environmental elements, such as collapsing buildings or changing weather, which worked even on the older Xbox 360 hardware, albeit in a more limited form than on next-gen consoles. The score was composed by Brian Tyler, which was the same across all platforms of the game.

Why play it: For dynamic multiplayer elements like collapsing buildings or changing weather that work even on older hardware, plus the same Brian Tyler soundtrack across all platforms, the Xbox 360 version is a fully-fledged choice.
