A raw melee arena with limb-severing combat; severed limbs are the standard here, not the exception.

Hellsplit: Arena is a raw combat arena in which the player faces waves of enemies, skeletons, and demons using swords, axes, hammers, bows, and other melee weapons with a physically believable combat system – severed limbs and realistic body damage are the standard here, not the exception. The game focuses purely on melee combat without firearms, which forces the player to think through attack angles, dual-wielded weapon combinations, and shield defense against overwhelming numbers, while a dead enemy's dropped weapon can be picked up immediately and used against further attackers.

On Quest, the game runs stably thanks to a simpler visual style emphasizing physics and blood particle effects rather than detailed environment textures. The atmosphere is dark and raw, the settings resembling medieval arenas, dungeons, and gothic cathedrals, and the soundscape relies more on the din of battle, clashing metal, and the wailing of enemies than on prominent music, which only underscores the rawness of the whole experience. The difficulty gradually and noticeably rises with increasing waves and varied enemy types, so the game rewards patience, reading attack animations, and mastering basic combat techniques including disarming opponents or dual-wielding two weapons at once.

After release, the game gained a small but loyal community of fans of raw VR melee combat, though some players pointed to the repetitiveness of the arena format and the lack of a deeper story line, which the game doesn't hide and makes no forced effort to provide. Due to its explicit violence and amount of blood, it clearly belongs among titles intended for adult players, but for lovers of a physical combat system it remains one of the genre's benchmark titles on the Quest platform to this day, especially as a quick demonstration of what believable melee weapon physics can achieve in VR without pointless lengthy tutorials.

Why play: For adult lovers of a raw melee combat system and believable melee weapon physics, but due to explicit violence and the repetitive arena format without a deeper story.
