Roguelite sword-and-shield combat in a tower full of monsters; death sends you back to the start with some upgrades kept.

Swords of Gargantua is a roguelite action game emphasizing melee combat with sword and shield, in which the player progresses through procedurally generated floors of a tall tower full of monsters, ambushes, traps, and powerful bosses at the end of each block of floors. After every death, the player returns to the start with some of the collected upgrades and permanently unlocked recipes, which motivates repeated runs and the gradual honing of combat techniques – blocking, dodging, and timed counterattacks against various enemy types, while some weapons can also be combined or upgraded using materials gathered during the ascent.

On Quest, the game offers a clean, stylized visual look reminiscent of Japanese action titles and anime series, accompanied by dynamic music that builds during battles with larger enemies and bosses and conveys the feeling of an approaching climax at the end of each floor. The physical combat system requires real wrist and arm movements, so fighting bosses is physically demanding and rewards precise timing and reading animations rather than brute force or random weapon flailing. Various types of swords, hammers, axes, and shields offer distinct playstyles, from aggressive attacking to defensive tactics with slower but more powerful weapons suited against armored opponents.

Thanks to its focus on genuinely demanding and satisfying melee combat, the game earned popularity among players looking for an alternative to typical VR shooters full of ranged weapons. Its roguelite structure with permadeath and gradual gear unlocking extends the game's lifespan to dozens of hours and ranks Swords of Gargantua among the best-rated melee titles on the Quest platform, especially thanks to its honestly well-crafted physical combat system, which can delight even players tired of classic VR shooters built purely around aiming and pulling the trigger.

Why play: For players tired of classic VR shooters, it offers a melee alternative with a well-crafted physical combat system and a roguelite structure good for dozens of hours of play.
