A campaign about the Ghosts unit, complemented by the cooperative survival mode Extinction.

The PC version of Call of Duty: Ghosts launched on November 5, 2013, alongside the editions for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, i.e. before the launch of the next-gen PS4 and Xbox One consoles. It contains the complete campaign about the Ghosts unit, multiplayer, the Squads social system, and the Extinction cooperative survival mode; the game was developed by Infinity Ward.

As with other entries in the series, the PC edition offers the highest technical ceiling among the platforms of the time – support for high resolution, a wide range of graphics settings and a frame rate limited only by the performance of a given rig. The game required the Steam client to launch and offered full support for keyboard and mouse as well as a gamepad. Just like PlayStation players, PC players also received all four paid map packs only after the timed exclusivity that Xbox had contractually secured at the time had expired.

In terms of content, the PC version is identical to all other platforms, including the PS4 and Xbox One, which launched a few days later. Thanks to more powerful rigs, PC players could achieve a higher frame rate than on any console of the era, which was a noticeable advantage in competitive multiplayer.

The game's campaign plays out mainly from the perspective of brothers Logan and David Walker and their father, a special forces veteran, and emphasizes cinematic, action-oriented sequences, including a space mission and submarine action. On PC, the entire story structure and all the launch multiplayer maps were preserved in the same form as on consoles, with the option to set the game to a higher resolution and frame rate.

The game also offered a reworked multiplayer engine with dynamic environmental elements, such as collapsing buildings or changing weather, visible in the same form as on the next-gen consoles. Unlike on consoles, the PC version let players fine-tune mouse control settings in detail, including sensitivity for individual axes.

Why play it: Thanks to detailed per-axis mouse sensitivity settings and smooth dynamic environmental elements in multiplayer, the PC version is well suited for players craving the most precise controls of all the platforms.
