Super Mario Sunshine
Mario heads off to the tropical Isle Delfino and, instead of a vacation, ends up cleaning up pollution using the FLUDD water jet, a backpack that can spray, hover and dash across the water's surface. The unusual mechanic still divides fans today, but it offers an intoxicating sense of movement and a number of devilishly hard bonus levels without FLUDD that rank among the toughest platforming challenges of their era. The sunny atmosphere, catchy soundtrack and open environments make Sunshine one of the most distinctive 3D Marios ever.
