Mega Man Xtreme 2
Where the first installment merely opened the door, Mega Man Xtreme 2 from 2001 goes all in. For the Game Boy Color sequel, Capcom drew on material from the X3 and X4 installments and offered a considerably richer package that ranks among the best the X series delivered on the handheld.
The key novelty is the choice between two playable characters — alongside the hunter X, you can also play as Zero with his beloved light saber, each with a different combat style. The game adds a system of upgrades and enhancements that let the character grow over time, deepening both tactics and the motivation to replay. It preserves the tried-and-true foundations: the dash, wall jumps, taking weapons from defeated bosses, and cleverly using them against other enemies.
The retro community appreciates Xtreme 2 as a more complete and expansive experience than its predecessor — it's a title tailored to fans of the series who want demanding action with two heroes and an eye for detail, even on a screen that fits in the palm of your hand.
