Turn-based artillery with humour; immortal multiplayer fun.

Holy hand grenade sheep! If that sentence means something to you, you have probably spent more than one night with Worms, the turn-based artillery with humour where teams of little worms armed with the most absurd arsenal in the history of games face off against each other.

The basis of the game is actually the classic artillery scheme: you set the power and angle of your shot and try to hit your opponent across the rugged, fully destructible terrain, factoring in the wind as well. But Worms wrapped this old genre in crazy weapons, from the bazooka through exploding old ladies to the legendary sheep, and above all in an irresistible sense of humour. Every hit is a little comedic scene.

The absolute heart of the game beats in multiplayer on a single computer. You sit with friends at one machine, take turns and destroy each other's teams amid laughter and cursing. This form of fun turned Worms into a social phenomenon that works just as well today as in the mid-nineties.

Behind the game stands the studio Team17, for which Worms became such a fundamental brand that it develops it to this day, and it grew into a respected game publisher. Over the years the series expanded into dozens of instalments on the most varied platforms, but the core of the fun remains practically untouched.

Worms is today synonymous with witty turn-based strategy and one of the best examples of how fun is shared at a single screen. It is a title that does not age, because it is built on something timeless: on competitiveness and laughter.

Why play: An immortal multiplayer classic full of humour; ideal when you want to destroy each other's teams with friends at a single screen.
