Worms – obaly dílů série

Worms launched in 1995 from Team17, originally on the Commodore Amiga, and made its name as a turn-based artillery battle soaked in dark comedy. Two to four teams of cute but merciless worms try to wipe each other off a destructible landscape using an arsenal of absurd weapons - from banana bombs to holy hand grenades and exploding sheep - where a clever idea often matters more than a steady aim. The series is defined by the combination of simple rules, surprisingly deep tactical thinking about positioning and distance, and a distinctive cartoon look that makes it entertaining even for people just watching over someone's shoulder.

The original's success led to Worms 2 in 1997 and, two years later, Worms Armageddon, still widely regarded as the series' high point for its finely tuned weapon balance and a community that remains active to this day. Team17 kept experimenting afterwards, moving into 3D with Worms 3D and Worms 4: Mayhem before returning to the classic 2D, grid-based look with Worms: Open Warfare. Over the years Worms has appeared on dozens of platforms, and its friendly, turn-based multiplayer left a lasting mark on the artillery-strategy genre - games with similar mechanics are still routinely compared to it.
