More open mountains and more tricks than the first Amped; free riding and specific challenges.

Amped 2 built on the successful snowboarding title Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding and expanded its concept with larger open mountains, more playable riders, and a more elaborate trick system. Players could freely ride down vast slopes full of jumps, rails, and natural obstacles, with combining tricks and stylish landings being key to earning points and unlocking new gear and clothing. The career mode offered progressive competition across various mountains around the world, each with different terrain, weather, and track difficulty, and players could choose between riding freely in their own style and completing specific challenges.

On Xbox, the game excelled with vast snowy scenery and a smooth sense of descent, taking advantage of the console's power to display more detailed terrain and distant views of the surrounding landscape full of mountains and forests. The controls emphasized smoothly chaining tricks and stylishly finishing them, rewarding patient players willing to master the finer nuances of the jump and landing system. A soundtrack of electronic and rock music complemented the energetic atmosphere of freestyle snowboarding on mountain slopes and underscored the sense of speed while descending.

Amped 2 was critically well received and cemented the series' position as one of the leading representatives of the snowboarding genre on Xbox, where it had no direct exclusive competition of comparable quality. Its emphasis on style and fluid tricks influenced other snowboarding and skiing titles of the era across various platforms, including competing consoles. Today, the game represents a pleasant example of early Xbox sports games, though the graphics naturally reflect their era and fall well short of today's standard - even so, it retains its distinctive, accessible style and unmistakable atmosphere of snowy slopes.

Why play it: For fans of snowboarding games who will appreciate the fluidity of the tricks and the distinctive atmosphere of the snowy slopes, despite graphics clearly marked by their era.
