Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a faithful reworking of Hideo Kojima's legendary series' third entry from 2004, telling the story of agent Naked Snake, sent into the Soviet jungle during the Cold War on a mission that gradually turns into a personal betrayal and a fight for survival. The remake preserves the original story, dialogue, and key gameplay mechanics, such as camouflage adapted to the surrounding environment, close-quarters combat (CQC), hunting and preparing food to maintain stamina, or treating sustained injuries, but completely rebuilds the graphics on a modern engine and offers a choice between classic and new camera controls.
On PS5, the game stands out with a richly detailed jungle full of dense vegetation and wildlife, which can also be hunted as a food source, and with technical work that makes full use of the console's power for smooth performance and visual fidelity of the environment. The stealth system remains built around careful observation of the surroundings, patient camouflage, and improvisation with available resources, thanks to which the game, even two decades after the original, still feels like a thoughtful and functional alternative to the series' more action-oriented entries.
The remake launched in 2025 and was received as a respectful and technically accomplished tribute to one of the most acclaimed entries in the Metal Gear Solid series, making the classic title accessible to an entirely new generation of players. Thanks to preserving the original story, music, and atmosphere, and only carefully adjusting the gameplay, it's one of the most notable remakes in recent memory and a reminder of why Snake Eater is still considered one of the series' high points. The choice between the classic and new interface also allows for both a nostalgic reliving of the original and a more comfortable experience for players used to current action games, giving the remake a broad appeal across generations of Metal Gear Solid fans.
Why play it: For fans and newcomers alike who want to experience one of the Metal Gear Solid series' high points in a respectful remake — the choice between classic and modern interface offers both nostalgia and a more comfortable approach to the action.
