Hitman 2

Hitman 2 from 2018 continues the series' 2016 reboot and once again builds on sprawling sandbox levels in which the player, as hitman Agent 47, has complete freedom in how to reach the target. Locations such as a Colombian city in the middle of a festival, an American suburb during a neighborhood party, or Mumbai slums full of street life offer dozens of disguises, side paths, and scripted opportunities that can be combined according to the player's own playstyle - from silent infiltration to a chain of accidents that look like pure chance. Additional modes such as Sniper Assassin, Elusive Targets, or Escalation Contracts then give players a reason to return to the same locations again and again under different rules.

Developer IO Interactive released the game simultaneously for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and on PC bet on full support for high resolution, unlimited frame rate, and finer-tuned mouse-and-keyboard controls, which proved especially useful for carefully planning routes and observing guards from a distance. Unlike the previous entry from 2016, which came out episodically throughout the year, Hitman 2 arrived on PC and other platforms right away as a complete package of all missions, plus a new two-player Sniper Assassin co-op mode and a reworked trace-tracking system that lets enemies spot the player's fingerprints in a crowd even outside their direct field of view. This clearer, one-time release along with the polished PC controls made Hitman 2 a popular choice for players who wanted to try the series without waiting for episodic releases.
