Grand Theft Auto V
Grand Theft Auto V arrived on PC in 2015, a year after the console versions, bringing the series' most expansive and detailed world yet, spread across the fictional Los Santos and the surrounding countryside, mountains, and desert. For the first time, the game centers on three main protagonists, between whom the player switches in real time, and their intertwined fates form the backbone of a story about heists, betrayals, and satire of the American way of life and showbusiness. Heist missions become the game's set-piece highlights, combining planning, choice of approach, shootouts, and police chases.
The PC version stood out for its support of high resolution, denser traffic, improved weather, and other graphical enhancements beyond the console versions, which for a long time made it a standard benchmark for graphics card performance. Besides an extensive single-player campaign, the game also offered the online multiplayer Grand Theft Auto Online, which over the years grew into an independent living world with regularly added content, vehicles, and activities, becoming an extraordinarily long-term profitable product for the publisher. Humor, music, and a satirical view of modern California gave the game an unmistakable and recognizable tone.
Grand Theft Auto V is among the most successful and most discussed video games ever made, and its PC version, thanks to modifications, high frame rates, and a persistent online community, remains alive to this day, more than ten years after its initial release. Critics praised the scope of the world, the quality of the storytelling, and the technical execution, even as the game repeatedly became a target of debates about the depiction of violence and microtransactions in the online mode. As a must-play title, it still serves as an entry point into the entire series for a new generation of players who never experienced the earlier entries, and its longevity on PC has virtually no equal in the open-world genre.
Why play it: For newcomers and series veterans alike — thanks to modifications, high frame rates, and a lively online community, the PC version remains current even ten years after release.
