Tunnel-racing adrenaline combining speed and shooting; the only home port of this arcade game ever made.

A supersonic tunnel, a futuristic vehicle and speed that blurs the picture before your eyes — S.T.U.N. Runner was arcade adrenaline in its purest form, and on the Atari Lynx in a version you couldn't get anywhere else. This conversion is, after all, the only home port of the game ever made.

The principle combines racing and shooting into a single experience. You hurtle through a twisting tunnel at supersonic speed, dodging obstacles, collecting speed boosts and shooting at everything in your way. It's not about careful planning — it's about reflexes, about reading the track in the last fractions of a second, and about the courage to floor it even more.

The key to the experience is, once again, the Lynx's hardware scaling. It's what creates that dizzying sense of speed, where the tunnel rushes toward you and the surroundings grow and vanish at such a pace that you've got your hands full keeping the vehicle on the track. On a pocket console this was an effect the rivals simply couldn't imitate, and Atari made full use of it here.

Because it's the only home conversion of this arcade game, the Lynx version holds special value for collectors and fans. Anyone who wanted to play S.T.U.N. Runner at home had no other choice — and got a version that captured the spirit of the original surprisingly faithfully.

It's a genuine one-off: a piece of arcade history that survived precisely and only thanks to this console. For lovers of fast, purely reflexive action it's one of the most tempting reasons to pull out the Lynx.

Why play: The only home port of supersonic arcade racing with shooting, which thanks to Lynx scaling offers an intoxicating sense of speed — a unique piece for fans of arcade action.
