An atmospheric adventure about uncovering a family secret; a sequel to Two Memories from DS.

Another Code: R - A Journey into Lost Memories is an adventure following on from the Nintendo DS title Another Code: Two Memories, in which the girl Ashley Mizuki Robbins travels to a remote island to uncover mysteries connected to her mother's death and to her own forgotten past. The game unfolds through slow, atmospheric storytelling, as the player moves through locations, converses with characters, and solves gentle puzzles leading to the gradual unveiling of a family secret and a long-ago accident.

The controls use the Wii Remote held upright as an imaginary DAS recorder, with which the player photographs surroundings, records notes, and manipulates the environment – for example, turning the controller to turn a key in a virtual lock or piecing together torn documents. The puzzles are mostly logical and non-violent, with the game placing emphasis on story, relationships between characters, and emotional depth rather than challenge, placing it among the calmer, narrative-driven adventures of the era from developer Cing, also well known for the Hotel Dusk series.

Another Code: R was released in Europe and Japan, but remained unreleased in North America, which limited its reach among a wider audience and made it a rarer item in collections. Critics praised the sensitively written story and pleasant, watercolor-style graphics, but less so the fairly short playtime and undemanding puzzles. Today, the game is valued especially among fans of narrative adventures as proof that Wii offered room for quiet, personal stories beyond the mainstream of motion-controlled entertainment, and for many it remains an overlooked gem of the console's library. Fans of the series also appreciate how sensitively it builds on the characters and motifs of the previous entry, without leaving players unfamiliar with the first title lost in its own story, and how it manages, even with simple means, to tell an emotional story about family, loss, and forgiveness.
