Luigi's Mansion 3
Luigi's Mansion 3 puts the timid Luigi in the role of the main hero, who, with the help of the upgraded Poltergust G-00 vacuum, must face an army of ghosts in the luxurious Last Resort hotel, where he was invited on vacation along with Mario, Peach, and friends. The trap was set by the sinister painter King Boo, whose magic portrait pulled the whole group into a trap and turned the hotel into a nest of ghosts scattered across its floors, each of which has its own visual theme – from a kitchen through an art floor to a frozen swimming pool. The hotel's structure is also a clever pacing solution: each floor works as a separate episode with its own puzzle and boss, so the game never turns into repetition.
The gameplay combines exploration and puzzle-solving using a flashlight and vacuum with tense combat sequences against ghosts, which must first be stunned with a flash and then sucked up. New moves were added too, such as a vacuum slam or a burst of exhaust air, giving fights against larger groups of ghosts noticeably better pacing than in previous installments. New is the companion Gooigi, a gelatinous copy of Luigi, who can be controlled by a second player in co-op or switched to solo for solving puzzles that require two characters at once, though Gooigi can pass through grates but is vulnerable to water and sharp objects. The game also offers robust multiplayer modes, ScareScraper and ScreamPark, for up to eight players locally and online.
Visually, it's one of the technically most impressive titles on Switch thanks to detailed animations, playful lighting, soft shadows, and comic-book-like character expressions – Luigi's terrified faces rank among the best things Nintendo's animators have ever shown. Almost every piece of furniture is interactive, so vacuuming curtains, pillows, and trash is entertaining in its own right. Critics praised the humor, the creativity of the boss fights, and the solid length of the campaign, making Luigi's Mansion 3 one of the best-reviewed titles in the series and a favorite choice for players looking for a lighter but visually rich action-adventure.
