A card-game spin-off turns the action series Uncharted into a calm tactical game.

Uncharted: Fight for Fortune is a card-based battle game that turned the Uncharted action-adventure into a strategic spin-off for PlayStation Vita, moving the series into an entirely different genre, much calmer and more deliberate than what fans of the main entries are used to. Players build decks of cards representing characters, weapons, and special abilities known from the main series – Nathan Drake, Elena Fisher, Sully, and many others – and face off in turn-based battles aiming to defeat the opponent's group of characters before they defeat their own. Instead of platforming, climbing through ruins, and firefights, it's about tactical decision-making, resource management, and building synergies between individual cards. Each character has different stats and special abilities matching their portrayal in the main series, so building a functional deck requires a well-thought-out combination of attack, defense, and support cards.

The game was created as a purely digital title available through the PlayStation Store, makes full use of the Vita's touchscreen for dragging and placing cards, and was connected to Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception – by linking the two games, players could unlock additional content and cosmetic items. It's a purely spin-off affair outside the series' main storyline, aimed more at fans who want to spend time with familiar characters in a different genre than an action-adventure, rather than a port or simplified version of one of the main entries set in the series' traditional environment with an emphasis on cinematic storytelling and action sequences. The short, turn-based matches also fit well for playing on the go, which matched the Vita's focus at the time on casual gaming sessions away from home.

Why play: Fight for Fortune will be appreciated by Uncharted fans who want to try the series' characters in a turn-based card strategy game on a handheld, instead of another action adventure in the style of the main entries.
