Diablo II: Resurrected
Diablo II: Resurrected is a faithful remaster of the classic 2000 action RPG that preserves the original gameplay mechanics, balancing, and mission structure, but offers reworked graphics in high resolution with the option to switch back to the original pixelated look at any time with a single keypress. The player chooses one of seven classes – Amazon, Barbarian, Necromancer, Paladin, Sorceress, Druid, or Assassin – and moves through five acts full of a dark fantasy story about fighting ancient evils, from the barren steppes of the first act to the hellish scenery of the game's finale.
The gameplay rests on collecting items, building a character via a skill tree, and fighting hordes of enemies as well as unique bosses, including the legendary Diablo, with the system of randomly generated items and their properties remaining unchanged at its core. The remaster added support for higher resolutions, shared storage between characters, modern online services, and cross-play between platforms, making it more accessible for new players and an enjoyable revisit for veterans returning to their favorite builds. On a modern PC the game runs smoothly even on low-end hardware, since at its core it's a title from the early 2000s with a new graphical coat of paint, which owners of older hardware will appreciate too.
The game's atmosphere remains dark and gothic, accompanied by iconic music that ranks among the most recognizable in the genre and still evokes strong nostalgia today. Diablo II was groundbreaking in its time and significantly shaped the entire action RPG genre along with its loot and build systems, so Resurrected is seen as both a reverent and functional way to revisit that influence without having to fight against outdated technology. For today's players it offers dozens of hours of gameplay with a single character and much more when building multiple builds and farming items in the game's later stages, where players often return to the same areas for better gear.
Why play: For a reverent and functional return to a groundbreaking action RPG classic with iconic music and dozens of hours of item hunting and character building, without having to fight outdated technology.
