Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland

Adventures in Gameland is a modern NES platformer that looks and plays as if it fell straight out of the early nineties - only with a craft and care that licensed games of the era rarely had. You guide the toddlers from the Rugrats cartoon through their own imagined adventure: you play as Tommy and friends, collect items, solve small puzzles, and hop through colorful levels full of big, adorable sprites. The game was released on a real NES cartridge by Limited Run Games and, in emulated form, on modern consoles, where it adds remastered music and a hand-drawn HD overlay. A lovely tribute to Nintendo's golden era that kids can handle, but nostalgics will appreciate most.
