Where's My Water?
Where's My Water? puts the player in the role of a plumber who digs underground tunnels through mud with a swipe of the finger to bring water to the alligator Swampy waiting in his tub. Instead of dragging blocks or pressing buttons, it's about drawing — the finger is both shovel and ruler, and every line drawn through the dirt changes the direction of the flow according to a simplified but convincing liquid physics. Besides plain water, other elements gradually join in, each needing to be routed differently and handled differently, so the puzzles never repeat in quite the same form.
The game was published by Disney Mobile in 2011 as an attempt to show the studio could create its own playable character rather than just port film licenses. Swampy never had a movie or a TV show, yet he became one of the faces of the early App Store era — thanks mainly to the fact that the puzzles with water, steam, and toxic sludge worked as pure puzzle design without relying on a brand or a big marketing campaign. The level design gradually added new mechanics (rubber, fire, electricity) and, with them, side characters who expanded the world into several spin-off titles with their own sets of levels.
The controls stayed simple throughout — one finger, one line, no multi-touch gestures — which made the game an ideal title for short breaks and also for younger players who were just getting to know touchscreens. That accessibility helped the series survive years of updates and keep a loyal audience across several generations of phones and tablets, even though at its core it's still the same puzzle about flowing water. The gentle difficulty curve and the visual style with big eyes and exaggerated expressions also made it a popular choice for parents looking for something that would genuinely keep a child engaged on the phone.
Why play it: Reach for it if you're looking for an easygoing physics puzzle for a few minutes a day, where the witty presentation and clean single-swipe controls hold your attention better than most of its contemporary competition.
