Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II

RPG 2022 iOSAndroid Aspyr Media Star Wars ⏱ Very long · 30+ h

A cult Star Wars RPG from Obsidian with darker morality and the mentor Kreia.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II brings to mobile the darker sequel to the cult RPG that studio Obsidian created in 2004 as the spiritual successor to the first entry from BioWare, this time with a markedly bleaker view of the Jedi Order and the war that scarred it. The story follows a lone Jedi cut off from the Force, guided by the mysterious mentor Kreia, who questions the very moral foundations of both the Jedi and the Sith, which still ranks the game among the most philosophical and ambitious RPGs in the Star Wars brand. Studio Aspyr Media released the mobile version, redesigning the controls into a virtual joystick and contextual buttons for combat and inventory, and the original's basic turn-based combat system adapted to touch surprisingly well.

The 2022 port is a paid game without ads or gacha elements, which places it in a minority but very welcome category among fans - that of full ports of older computer games - within the offering of mobile RPGs. Fans long called for a fix to the extensive unfinished content from the original release, caused by the deadline pressure of the time, for which community mods exist on PC, but the mobile version is based on the standard, officially released form of the game. Even so, it's one of the few ways to play this acclaimed entry directly on a phone without needing emulation, older hardware or hunting down a physical disc.

Why play it: Ideal for fans of Star Wars and classic RPGs who want a darker and more thought-provoking story and don't mind an older control scheme adapted for touch.
