A legendary Star Wars RPG from BioWare with one of the genre's most famous twists.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic takes the player thousands of years before the film saga, into an era of ancient wars between the Republic and the Sith, where the amnesiac protagonist gradually uncovers their own past, builds a crew of companions, and chooses between the light and dark side of the Force in a choice system that affects not just the story but also the character's abilities. The game is famous for one of the most surprising plot twists in video game history and is still cited today as one of the best Star Wars games ever made.

The mobile port by Aspyr Media is a paid game with no ads and no microtransactions - a one-time purchase that unlocks the complete campaign, dozens of hours long, built on BioWare's modified Odyssey engine. Given its scope and complexity, this is an unusually generous offer compared to typical mobile competition built on short gameplay loops and microtransactions.

The touch conversion handles the turn-based combat system and command queues well, working better than it would for a purely action-based game - deciding in menus and planning abilities feels natural with taps. Moving around the environment and the camera are trickier, where the virtual controller noticeably reduces comfort compared to the mouse and keyboard of the original PC version. Even so, it's a remarkably complete transfer of a sprawling RPG onto a small screen.

Why play it: Ideal for fans of both Star Wars and classic BioWare RPGs who want to experience the legendary story and its famous twist in their pocket anywhere, with turn-based combat well suited to touch.
