Standoff 2
Standoff 2 is another wave of mobile answers to Counter-Strike, this time from studio Axlebolt, and compared to its predecessor Standoff it moved up to a full 3D engine, more elaborate maps, and a deeper economic system of buying weapons at the start of a round. Players face off in five-member teams in classic bomb or elimination modes, with success depending on team communication, map knowledge, and precise aim – not on who buys a better weapon, since weapons are bought only with in-game currency earned by playing.
Controls combine a virtual joystick with sensitive aiming gestures, and the game offers a wide range of sensitivity and button-layout customization, making it one of the more technically adjustable mobile shooters. Monetization focuses exclusively on cosmetics – weapon skins, knives, stickers, and battle passes with seasonal content – while the gameplay itself stays purely skill-based, with no advantages for money. Players can also try out weapons in a training mode before spending earned in-game currency on them, making it easier to decide when building a loadout.
Since its 2017 release, Standoff 2 has regularly received updates with new maps, weapons, and game modes, which has helped it keep an active community even alongside competition from Critical Ops and other similar titles. Its graphics and optimization for older phones rank among the better ones in the genre, so the game runs smoothly even on less powerful devices.
Why play it: for fans of tactical shooters looking for an alternative to Critical Ops with an equally honest approach to monetization who want to try different maps and a weapon system.
