CSR Racing 2
CSR Racing 2 builds on the principle that made the CSR series famous since its first entry – drag races on a straight quarter-mile, where there's no cornering because the race is a straight-line sprint and the only thing that matters is precisely timing gear shifts with a finger gesture. This reduction to a single but finely tuned game element makes CSR Racing 2 easy to grasp during the first race while still being demanding enough to reward practice and knowledge of a specific car's behavior.
Studio NaturalMotion released the game in 2016 as the successor to the successful first CSR Racing, with significantly improved car graphics, licensed models from real automakers, and a deeper tuning system where players upgrade the engine, transmission, tires, and nitro to squeeze the maximum out of a car. Collecting and building the car roster is just as important as racing itself, since individual race categories are strictly divided by car performance, and without a suitable car a player can't even enter them.
Monetization is free-to-play with purchasable in-game and premium currency for real money, where the fastest cars and their upgrades are attainable without paying only with great patience – a typical approach for free-to-play racers of that era. Social features like crews and club competitions keep players engaged long-term and give meaning even to collecting cars the player will never actually race.
Why play it: For players who love drag racing and clean shifting mechanics without having to handle corners, and who can cope with a slower free-to-play progression without spending money.
