A crazy time-hopping travel adventure; the sequel to Maniac Mansion.

Day of the Tentacle Remastered is the sequel to the classic Maniac Mansion and, like its predecessor, was created at LucasArts, with the remaster produced by Tim Schafer's studio Double Fine Productions. The story follows three characters trapped in different time periods - the past, present, and future - who must send items to each other through a special toilet booth to jointly stop an evil mutant tentacle from taking over the world. The puzzles therefore often require thinking across all three timelines at once and tracking how one decision in the past changes the shape of the present and future.

The zany humor, exaggerated character caricatures, and utterly absurd plot made Day of the Tentacle one of the most beloved adventure games of the nineties, one that fans of the genre still place alongside Monkey Island as an example of the best that LucasArts created in that era. The remaster added reworked graphics, the option to switch to the original look, and new voice recordings, while preserving all the zany humor and pacing that fans remember the game for.

The mobile version for iOS and Android is a paid app with no ads, controlled by tapping the scene and dragging items between timelines, which feels surprisingly natural and intuitive on a touchscreen.

Why play it: For fans of zany humor and clever puzzles who will appreciate how well playing across three timelines works even on a small touchscreen.
