Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a first-person action shooter from Treyarch and Raven Software, continuing the storyline of the Black Ops sub-series. The campaign takes place in the mid-1990s and follows a team of CIA agents who get caught up in a conspiracy reaching all the way back to Operation Desert Storm. The game places greater emphasis on more action-packed, more open missions with room for the player's own approach than previous entries, and for the first time offers cooperative play through the entire campaign for multiple players. Alongside singleplayer, it brings an extensive multiplayer with new and returning maps, a system of seasonal content, and a Zombies mode with its own story and set of maps.
On Xbox Series X|S, Black Ops 6 runs with high resolution and a smooth frame rate; the fast next-generation SSD storage shortens loading times between matches and within the campaign. The game is also available from day one in the Xbox Game Pass subscription, which is new for a mainline series entry and makes it easier for Xbox players to access the game without a one-time purchase.
Content-wise, the Xbox Series X|S version is identical to the other platforms – the same campaign, the same multiplayer maps, and the same Zombies mode. Thanks to cross-play and cross-progression, players can play with friends on PlayStation and PC and transfer their progress between platforms without loss.
Day-one availability in Game Pass is a key difference for the Xbox version compared to PlayStation, where the game must be purchased separately. It changes nothing about the gameplay or content of the Xbox Series X|S version – it's purely a different way of getting hold of the game on that platform.
As on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S also offers a choice between a mode focused on image quality and a mode focused on performance, letting players set up the game according to whether they prefer a sharper image or maximum smoothness in multiplayer. The cheaper Series S reaches a lower resolution than the more powerful Series X, but the game's content is identical on both models.
Why play it: Players can choose between a sharper image and maximum smoothness in multiplayer, both on the Series X and on the more affordable Series S with the same content, just at a lower resolution.
