Hades II
Hades II is the sequel to the acclaimed roguelike from Supergiant Games, in which you take on the role of Melinoe, daughter of Hades and Persephone, on her journey to take revenge on the Titan Chronos. The game builds on repeated runs through the underworld and the surface, collecting the gods' boons, and assembling builds from weapons, spells, and abilities that shuffle differently every time. Compared to the first Hades, it adds incantations, potion brewing, and a wider map with new areas to explore, through which the heroine gradually fights her way toward the Titan. Between runs, Melinoe returns to her hideout at the Crossroads, where she grows herbs, brews potions, and strengthens relationships with other characters of the underworld. The game introduces the Arcana system, sets of cards with permanent passive abilities that replace the Mirror of Night from the first game and let you fine-tune your build before setting out.
On Xbox Series X|S, Hades II arrived in autumn 2025 together with version 1.0, meaning it is a title that, unlike on PC, never went through an early access phase – players get the finished story and tuned difficulty from the very first launch. The console version benefits from the power of the Series X|S, so the game holds a stable frame rate even in busy fights against dozens of enemies. The controls are fully adapted to the standard Xbox controller, including fast switching of weapons and spells on the triggers and bumpers, and it offers the same complete content as the versions on other consoles. On the more powerful Series X, the game runs at a higher resolution than on the Series S, where the resolution is slightly lowered in favor of an equally stable frame rate, and the version supports Xbox achievements.
Why play it: Xbox owners get a complete and balanced Hades II without having to wait for the story to be finished, as was the case with the PC version in early access. It's an ideal choice for players who want a roguelike with a strong story and Greek mythology delivered ready-made, polished, and without having to follow its development in pieces. Fast loading and a stable frame rate on the Series X|S also ensure that even the most hectic battles against Chronos's forces don't stutter.
