Reworked Wii Sports with Motion Plus and online matches; released sport by sport.

Wii Sports Club is a reworked version of the popular sports compilation Wii Sports, adapted for Wii U, its gamepad, and the more precise Wii Motion Plus controllers. The game was released gradually sport by sport as digital downloads, offering improved graphics, online matches, and more refined controls than the 2006 original, which to this day ranks among the best-selling titles in the history of the games industry. Available disciplines include tennis, bowling, golf, baseball, boxing, and a newly added sword fighting mode, with each discipline aiming for simple, intuitive motion controls manageable even by players with no video game experience.

Compared to the original Wii game, the Club version brings more precise motion tracking thanks to Motion Plus technology and the ability to play online against players from around the world, which at the time was an uncommon feature for Nintendo sports games focused mainly on local entertainment. The graphics were noticeably improved, the Mii characters look more detailed, and the environments of each sporting venue are colorful, clear, and full of small crowd animations. The game was also sold via weekend rentals of individual sports at a reduced price, an unusual business model for Nintendo at the time, which was experimenting with gradually expanding content.

Critics praised the improved controls, more precise gesture tracking, and enjoyable multiplayer fun in front of one television, although they ranked the game more as a casual title without much depth or long-term motivation. Today, Wii Sports Club represents an interesting example of how Nintendo experimented with the digital distribution format in the early years of Wii U, and for fans of motion controls it remains a pleasant, undemanding entertainment suitable for family play even years after release.

Why play: For its improved controls and more precise gesture tracking, it's a pleasant, undemanding entertainment for family play in front of one television, even though it lacks greater depth or long-term motivation.
