Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance expands and deepens the original 2021 game with a new playable storyline centered on the mysterious character Yoko and the Qadištu faction, offering an alternative, darker view of the ruined, half-empty Tokyo known as Da'at. The player still explores vast open areas full of demons, collects and negotiates with monsters to add them to the party, and ultimately decides which faction to join in the decisive battle for the world's future, while the new storyline fundamentally changes how the original events are viewed and introduces entirely new companions and demons that weren't in the 2021 game at all.
