A calm rowing simulation; a paddle in both hands drives your kayak through fjords and whitewater alike.

Kayak VR: Mirage is a calm sports simulation in which the player sits in a kayak and propels themselves forward with genuine, physical paddling motions held in both hands via the Sense controllers. The game offers free-roaming trips through landscapes full of fjords, caves, and quiet lakes, as well as racing courses with gates and time limits, and whitewater sections where you need to angle the kayak correctly and use the current's power instead of fighting against it. The paddling itself is designed to match real technique — the player alternates strokes on each side, brakes with a reverse stroke, and leans their body to keep balance, making the game a mild form of physical activity at the same time.

On PSVR2, the game benefits from sharp visuals and a wide field of view to bring out the intricately crafted landscapes — from calm Nordic fjords to tropical lagoons — and reflections of light on the water's surface that change smoothly with the time of day and weather. Haptic feedback on the controllers simulates the paddle stroke hitting the water as well as impacts against rocks or rapids, which helps sell the feeling that the player is actually steering the vessel rather than watching an automated motion. The audio side relies on ambient nature sounds, splashing water, and distant birdsong, together creating a meditative, relaxing atmosphere distinct from most of the more action-oriented titles on the platform.

Kayak VR: Mirage was received as a pleasant demonstration that PSVR2 doesn't have to serve only adrenaline-fueled and horror experiences, but also calmer, almost wellness-oriented activities. Many players also appreciated the game as a form of light exercise, since repeated paddle strokes over a longer session genuinely work the shoulders and back, which is rather the exception among console games. Thanks to its simple yet physically satisfying paddling controls, it became a popular choice for relaxed play as well as a showcase of movement simulation that can be picked up in VR almost without any learning curve, and it is often recommended to people who are just starting out with virtual reality and looking for an easy, low-stress way into the platform.

Why play: For players looking for a calm, almost wellness-like activity instead of adrenaline — the simple paddling works as light exercise and makes for an easy entry into VR even for complete beginners.
