Madden NFL 24

Madden NFL 24 is the latest entry in the long-running official NFL-licensed American football simulation, developed for EA Sports by studio EA Tiburon since the turn of the millennium. The 2024 edition introduced a reworked movement and duel system called FieldSENSE, aiming to more faithfully simulate one-on-one battles between offensive and defensive players at the moment of a pass, run, or block on the line. The game offers a wide range of modes, from a franchise management mode where the player runs an entire club including the draft and budget, through the card-collecting online Ultimate Team, to the career-focused Face of the Franchise in the style of a professional athlete.

On PlayStation 5, the game leverages the console's power for detailed player and stadium animations as well as smooth handling of large-scale on-field battles, where up to twenty-two characters converge at once into complex blocking schemes. DualSense haptic feedback adds to the feel of hard hits and blocks during line-of-scrimmage duels, while match presentation strives to closely mirror NFL television broadcasts, including graphics, commentary, and the atmosphere of a sold-out stadium.

The Madden series has long been the only officially NFL-licensed game, securing it a stable position among sports titles without direct competition, though it regularly faces criticism for the slower pace of gameplay innovation between yearly editions. For American football fans, Madden NFL 24 on PlayStation 5 is a natural choice with hundreds of hours of content thanks to regular online seasons and rosters updated to match real events in the league. Match presentation also changes according to the importance of the game, so playoff clashes and the Super Bowl final feel more ceremonial than a regular-season game, with distinct graphics for intros, celebrations, and crowd shots.

Why play: For American football fans, this is the only officially licensed choice on PS5, with hundreds of hours of content and a more ceremonial presentation for playoff games and the Super Bowl.
