Dying Light 2 Stay Human moves zombie parkour to Villedor, the last great city to survive the pandemic, and puts the player in the shoes of Aiden, a wanderer searching for his sister. The city is built vertically: rooftops, walkways, wind turbines, and unfinished skyscrapers form one giant jungle gym you move through without interruption. By day the streets belong to people while the infected hide in dark buildings; by night the ratio reverses and a hunt begins outside, with packs of fast mutants chasing you down.

The gameplay rests on two separate skill trees — parkour and combat — which develop independently and turn movement from cautious climbing into fluid vaulting across entire blocks. Weapons are improvised, wear down, and can be upgraded with electric, fire, or freezing modifiers, making combat both brutal and tactical. Over all of this sits a decision system: assigning a water tower or power plant to one of the factions permanently changes the look of a district, adding either traps and combat aids or trampolines and ropes for parkour. The entire campaign can be played in co-op with up to four players. On PlayStation 5 the game offers both high-resolution and high-performance modes as well as, later, smoother variants; the lighting of nighttime streets and the dynamic transition from day to night rank among its greatest strengths.

The atmosphere swings between the tourist-view calm of a lookout tower and sheer panic while fleeing a horde. The music stays subdued until a chase begins, then turns into an adrenaline-fueled track. Reception was good, with reservations about the writing and the game's technical state at launch, which Techland has long since fixed and expanded with dozens of updates as well as the Bloody Ties add-on. Today the game is considerably more polished and remains the best parkour experience of its kind. It also offers several endings depending on key decisions, and a map whose complete conquest can easily take fifty hours, especially if you venture out at night in search of rare gear hidden in the most heavily guarded buildings.
