An open world narrowed down to a single Hawaiian island; content divided into themed playlists.

The Crew Motorfest moved the open-world racing series from an entire continent to a single Hawaiian island and, in doing so, gained exactly what previous entries lacked: focus. Oahu offers volcanic slopes, rainforest, beaches and the city streets of Honolulu, all connected into a single map you can drive across without loading. The content is organized into themed playlists, short series of races each devoted to a single subject: the Japanese tuning scene, American muscle cars, endurance racing, electric vehicles or off-road machines. Each playlist has its own presentation, its own music and its own narrator, so it feels like a self-contained smaller festival within the larger event.

Besides cars, the game offers motorcycles, boats and planes, and switching between them is part of some competitions, where a car turns into a boat while driving along a beach and then into a plane. The driving model is arcade-style but distinguishes between surface types and vehicle categories enough that tuning gears and suspension actually matters. On PlayStation 5 the game runs smoothly, with short loading and pleasantly detailed vegetation and water surfaces; adaptive triggers distinguish off-road driving from asphalt, and haptics convey the spray of waves during a race at sea. Engine sound blends with a varied musical lineup that changes according to the playlist currently being played.

Reviews received the game as a significant improvement over its predecessor, praising the clear structure, the island atmosphere and the variety of the vehicle roster, while criticizing the weaker story framing and the at times overly forgiving difficulty. For the genre the title matters in how elegantly it solves the problem of open-world racing games: instead of an endless list of icons on the map, it offers curated blocks that have a beginning and an end. Today Motorfest feels like a relaxed, sunny and surprisingly substantial affair, suited both to short evening drives and to long evenings spent collecting cars.
