Sackboy's first full 3D platformer for up to four players; the musical levels are the highlight.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure moves the well-known character from the LittleBigPlanet series away from a focus on building your own levels and into a full-fledged 3D platformer emphasizing precise movement, jumping, and cooperative play for up to four players at once. The player moves through varied, thematically diverse worlds, collects bubbles and materials for crafting costumes, and faces boss fights, while the game smoothly alternates between classic jumping sections and more action-heavy sequences, chases, and music-synchronized levels that rank among the game's most memorable moments. The world structure is divided into separate thematic chapters, each offering a different environment and set of enemies, and the player moves between them via a clear map with optional collectibles.

On PS4 the title looks visually rich, with vivid felt, fabric, and paper textures continuing the LittleBigPlanet brand's characteristic handmade style, just translated into a fully three-dimensional space where the character can freely jump between several depth planes. The musical accompaniment plays an active role in many levels, where the character's movement and obstacles sync to the rhythm of pop and orchestral tracks, giving the gameplay noticeable energy and replay value. The multiplayer co-op mode is designed to work both with friends on a single screen and online, and it also offers small competitive elements between teammates.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure was well received at launch as one of the most accessible and enjoyable platformers of its generation, suitable for family play across age groups. Sumo Digital managed to carry the charm of the LittleBigPlanet series into a more traditional platforming framework without losing its playfulness, attention to detail, and handcrafted aesthetic. Today the game works as a reliable choice for players looking for a colorful, well-crafted family platformer with high production quality.

Why play it: For family play across age groups - a colorful, craft-like platformer that carries LittleBigPlanet's playfulness and aesthetic into a more accessible, traditional framework.
