Marvel Future Fight
Marvel Future Fight is an action RPG in which the player assembles teams from an extensive roster of Marvel heroes and villains and sends them into real-time battles on the touchscreen. The controls combine a virtual joystick for movement with buttons for basic attacks and each character's special abilities, while the depth of the game lies mainly in collecting, upgrading, and combining heroes into functional lineups, not in the technical difficulty of the battles themselves.
Netmarble released the game in 2015 and built it on a gacha model – new heroes and gear are obtained mainly through random draws from packs, which can be bought with real money or slowly earned by playing, and the game has long been among the highest-grossing mobile titles ever thanks to the huge amount of licensed content from comics and films. The roster of playable characters has grown over the years to hundreds of names across the entire Marvel universe, turning the game into a practically endlessly expandable collecting project.
It's precisely the breadth of the license and the regular tie-ins with current films that keep the game alive even ten years after release, even though new heroes come accompanied by increasingly aggressive gacha mechanics. For fans of the comic universe, it's also appealing that characters from completely different corners of Marvel mythology can meet on a single team.
Why play: Good for Marvel fans who want to collect favorite characters into a team, but they should expect gacha monetization where full progress without paying takes considerably longer.
