Leo's Fortune
Leo's Fortune is a platformer built on the contrast between a fairy-tale, hand-painted world and surprisingly demanding jumping sections. The touchscreen controls use virtual arrows or device tilt and a single action button for jumping, with the core mechanic being the inflation and deflation of the round fox-like character, which controls the height of the jump and the fall. The level design alternates classic jumping with puzzle sections that use physics and destructible environments, so the game never feels like a simple coin collector but rather like a well thought-out platforming whole.
It was released in 2014 by the small studio 1337 & Senri and quickly drew attention mainly for its visual side — a softly shaded, storybook-styled world with striking colors was among the most beautiful things to appear on mobile at the time, and the game won awards at gaming ceremonies for it. It's a paid title without ads or microtransactions, which was not entirely typical for a mobile platformer at the time and reinforced the impression of a premium product.
The story about a fox searching for stolen gold is simple, but it mainly serves as an excuse to connect the various, visually distinct worlds the player progresses through. The short but dense playtime and well-paced difficulty also mean the game never feels artificially padded just to extend its length.
Why play it: Ideal for platformer fans who want a compact experience without extra payments and who appreciate the artistic side as much as precise jump controls.
