Toy Blast
Toy Blast belongs to the family of puzzle games where, instead of classically swapping tiles, you tap groups of same-colored blocks, which then disappear and trigger a chain reaction of bonuses. The controls are purely touch-based and built around a single gesture — tapping — which makes the game accessible even to complete newcomers to the genre, while deeper strategy comes from planning which bonus to trigger when and how to meet the level's limited goals, such as knocking down a certain number of specific toys. Visually, the game relies on a colorful, toy-like world that works well on small displays.
Peak Games released the title in 2015 and built it from the start on a free-to-play model with lives that refill over time or can be bought, along with the usual microtransactions for power-ups and progress. Toy Blast still retains a large player base even a decade later, placing it among the most successfully long-running mobile puzzle titles ever, and the studio continues to expand it with hundreds of new levels and seasonal events.
The similarity to the later sister title Toon Blast is no coincidence — both games share a similar game skeleton, just with a different visual wrapper, and Peak Games effectively became one of the most successful puzzle publishers on mobile. Regular daily rewards and short, clearly bounded levels also make the game a typical example of a title built for day-to-day player retention.
Why play it: A good choice for fans of simple puzzles for short moments between other activities, although long-term progress without paying tends to be slow due to limited lives.
