Anti-gravity racing from Shin'en that squeezes more out of the small studio than you'd expect.

Fast Fusion was among the games available right at the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 in June 2025, and it quickly earned a reputation as a title that squeezes more out of the new console than you'd expect from a small studio game. It's an anti-gravity racer in the spirit of futuristic classics, where vehicles glide a few centimeters above the track, speeds are extreme, and every turn demands precise timing. The Fast series, which Shin'en Multimedia had already been developing on previous Nintendo consoles, gets its fastest and best-looking entry here.

The key mechanic remains switching your vehicle's color. The track is dotted with boost panels in two colors, and you only gain a boost when your craft's color matches the panel; otherwise you slow down instead. During a race you're constantly toggling colors while also trying to hold your line, which creates extra tension on top of the usual fight for position. A new feature hinted at in the title itself is the ability to fuse vehicles, creating machines with the properties of both, so players gradually build their own set of specialists for different track types. Modes include cups, time trials, a strictly ranked hero variant, and local split-screen.

Technically, it's one of the cleanest showcases of the new hardware among the launch titles: high resolution, very smooth performance, and striking lighting on tracks running through deserts, glaciers, and futuristic cities. The music is electronic, hard-hitting, and keeps the tempo pushing forward almost nonstop. Reception was positive, with praise going mainly to the technical execution and the friendly price, while criticism pointed to a more modest scope compared to the big racing franchises. Today Fast Fusion is an ideal pick for anyone who wants pure speed after just a few minutes of play with no drawn-out setup, and who misses classic futuristic racers. As a launch title, it also served well to let new console owners immediately test what the hardware could do.
