Blood & Truth

Akcni adventura 2019 SIE London Studio ⏱ Medium · ~3–10 h

A linear action adventure set in the London underworld; weapons are held and reloaded physically.

Blood & Truth is a linear action adventure set in London's criminal underworld, where the player, as former soldier Ryan Marks, tries to save his family from a gangster conspiracy. The game combines cover-based shootouts, stealth sections, and movement sequences, with the player's movement between positions handled through a quick teleport that minimizes the risk of motion sickness while preserving cinematic pacing. Weapons are held and reloaded physically using the Move motion controllers, so drawing a pistol from its holster or reloading a shotgun is just as important a skill as aiming itself. Between firefights, the player also passes through small puzzle sequences, such as manually picking locks, bypassing security systems, or piecing together torn documents, which momentarily slows the pace and lets the intricately modeled environments shine.

The London Studio team, previously known for series like SingStar, built a reputation with this title as the creator of one of the most cinematic VR experiences on PSVR. The story is told in the form of an action film with characters played by real actors, and the game moves smoothly between shootouts, chases, and calmer narrative passages. The graphics were among the technically most advanced on the platform at release, and the detailed depiction of London along with well-executed facial animation helped maintain the illusion that the player is truly part of an action movie. Short interludes in which the player assembles a firearm from individual parts with their bare hands became one of the most frequently mentioned tactile details of the game.

Critics and players alike praised above all how naturally the handling of weapons and cover in space translated into tense firefights, demonstrating that even a linear, heavily scripted action title can work better in VR than looser open-world concepts. Blood & Truth is today seen as one of the high points of the action-adventure genre on PSVR and a showcase of how cinematic storytelling can be combined with active gameplay.

Proč hrát: For a cinematically told, linear action story with natural handling of weapons and cover in space, it's one of the high points of the action-adventure genre on PSVR, where linearity works in the game's favor.
