A Telltale adventure set in the Fables universe; Sheriff Bigby Wolf, the Big Bad Wolf himself, solves murders.

The Wolf Among Us is an episodic adventure game from Telltale Games set in the universe of the Fables comic series, where fairy-tale characters live hidden among humans in New York's Fabletown and try to blend into the human world despite their supernatural nature. The player takes on the role of Sheriff Bigby Wolf, the transformed Big Bad Wolf of classic fairy tales, who investigates a series of brutal murders that reveal a dark secret lurking beneath the surface of an apparently ordinary city. During his investigation, Bigby encounters characters like Snow White, Beast, and Toad, who carry their own, often bittersweet versions of classic fairy-tale fates adapted to the harsh New York setting full of crime, corruption, and lost illusions.

The game builds on the same principle as previous Telltale titles – timed dialogue choices, quick action sequences, and environmental exploration while searching for evidence, with the player's decisions affecting relationships with characters as well as the direction of the investigation. On PS3, the game stood out with a striking visual style inspired by noir comics, featuring contrasting colors and stylized animation, complemented by an atmospheric jazz and electronic soundtrack that perfectly matches the dark, gritty tone of a story set in the streets of 1980s New York.

The Wolf Among Us is considered one of Telltale Games' best-written titles, praised for its strong noir atmosphere, the complex character of Bigby, and its clever blending of fairy-tale archetypes with a brutal crime plot. The game proved that a narrative adventure can work even outside licenses based on films or TV series, and it ranks among the most distinctive representatives of the genre from the PlayStation 3 era, still standing today as a reminder of how powerfully Telltale could work with someone else's license and reshape it in its own storytelling style.

Why play it: For fans of narrative adventures and strong noir atmosphere who will appreciate Bigby's complex character and the clever blending of fairy-tale archetypes with a brutal crime plot.
