A first-person factory builder where you stand right in the middle of your own machines.

Satisfactory is a factory-building game that, unlike most of the genre, you experience from a first-person view, standing right in the middle of your own machines. A giant corporation drops you on an alien planet with a single task: get industry running. You start with hand-mining ore and a portable smelter, and end up with multi-story complexes where dozens of kinds of parts roll along conveyor belts, freight trains run on rails, and a tangle of pipes carrying molten material stretches overhead. Progress is governed by a research tree tied to a giant space elevator, into which you send ever more complex products.

The game's charm lies in the fact that you actually walk through the factory on foot. A poorly planned layout isn't an abstract number in a spreadsheet, but a confusing tangle you have to physically crawl through to find out where the supply chain got stuck. At the same time, this gives building an architectural dimension: players construct halls, ramps, and elevated viaducts, fine-tuning symmetry and color schemes even though a pile of machines in a field would do just fine. The planet itself is a hand-designed world with biomes ranging from grassy plains to caves and swamps, full of hostile fauna and nooks with upgrades, so exploration works as the other half of the game.

The title spent several years in early access and reached its full release in 2024, when it also received a proper ending to its story line. Technically, it benefits from a modern engine: sweeping vistas, time of day, fog over the hills, and the hum of machinery that blends into a surprisingly soothing soundscape. The game can be played cooperatively with other players in one world, which makes it one of the best co-op projects for long evenings. Reception was very favorable, and Satisfactory today stands as the clearest proof that optimizing production can be just as addictive as any action game. It's demanding mainly on your patience, since rebuilding a working line can eat up an entire evening — but for many players, that's exactly the best part.
