Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath

real-time strategie (RTS) 2008 EA Los Angeles Command & Conquer ⏱ Medium · ~3–10 h

The expansion to Tiberium Wars adds the Nod Reborn faction and a campaign from the Brotherhood of Nod's perspective.

Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath is a separately sold expansion to the 2007 real-time strategy game Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. It adds a fourth playable faction, Nod Reborn, new units for all sides of the conflict, and a continuation of the story around Kane's return as he once again sets out to seize control of a Tiberium-infested Earth. The campaign is again told through live-action videos with actors and takes place from the perspective of the Brotherhood of Nod, adding a fourth angle on the same conflict to the trio of campaigns from the base game, and also offers a so-called campaign map on which the player chooses the mission order themselves.

The PC version was the first to release, already in March 2008, and represents the base, full version of the expansion – precise mouse-and-keyboard control remains the natural choice for real-time strategy, especially for quick unit selection and the battle micromanagement that Kane's Wrath deepens further with its new epic units, such as the giant Redeemer and Purifier machines. The expansion also introduces new sub-factions within both Nod and GDI, each with its own focus on stealth, armored technology, or ranged fire, significantly expanding the tactical options compared to the base game. Multiplayer also received clan and ranking support, which made the expansion a popular platform for competitive play long after release, and it also benefited from the series' modding community, which created its own balance tweaks and maps for the PC version. As a result, Kane's Wrath on PC still had active players in rankings and tournaments even years later, which cannot be said of the console version.

Why play: Kane's Wrath will appeal to players who finished Tiberium Wars and want a deeper, more tactical multiplayer with more factions and units, and on PC they additionally get more precise mouse control for demanding micromanagement, plus access to mods and community maps that the console version does not offer.
