The player takes on the role of Gideon Wyeth, an ordinary man who, during a catastrophic chain of events, becomes a key figure in a conflict that decides the fate of the entire human race. The game's script was co-written by a renowned science fiction author, which is reflected in its fairly ambitious story and world-building.

The gameplay combines a classic third-person shooter with telekinetic powers that Gideon gradually acquires - the player can throw enemies around, crush them, or use them as projectiles, which adds dynamism to combat beyond simple trigger-pulling.
