A standalone version made specifically for Wii, different from the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC editions.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was released on Wii in 2008 as a standalone version of the game made specifically for this console, different from the versions released in parallel on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The player takes on the role of Darth Vader's secret apprentice, Starkiller, who uses the Force to lift and hurl enemy soldiers, breaks metal structures, and fights his way through hangars and Imperial starships in an effort to fulfill his master's dark plan and stand against the Empire itself as well as the legendary heroes of the rebellion, whose paths ultimately cross with Starkiller's own.

The Wii version simplified some physics effects known from the more powerful consoles but replaced them with motion controls – lightsaber slashes, deflecting blaster shots, and using Force push or Force grip were controlled with gestures of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, giving combat a rawer, more direct feel, though less precise than the analog controls on other consoles. The level design and story stayed in the same spirit as on other platforms, just with modified, simpler environments adapted to the console's performance and fewer enemies on screen at once, without this fundamentally disrupting the pacing of individual action sequences or the overall structure of the story chapters.

Critics generally rated the Wii version as more fun thanks to its intuitive gesture controls, even though it technically lagged behind the HD versions on more powerful consoles in terms of resolution, effects, and environmental detail. Still, for Wii owners it was one of the few big action titles set in the Star Wars universe available on the console, and thanks to motion controls it offered a different, more physically immediate lightsaber-dueling experience than the versions on other platforms, appreciated precisely by motion-gaming fans looking for a more intuitive substitute for a classic gamepad.
