A WWII shooter built on precise Wii Remote aiming instead of an analog stick.

Medal of Honor Heroes 2 brought a WWII shooter to Wii built directly around Wii Remote and Nunchuk controls, meant to offer players more precise and natural aiming than the classic analog joystick used on competing consoles. The campaign follows American and Allied soldiers fighting on both the European and Pacific theaters, alternating larger battle sequences in more open terrain with tighter levels set in cities, trench systems, and damaged buildings, and it tries to evoke the drama of the big WWII shooters that dominated home consoles at the time, particularly the Call of Duty series and Medal of Honor itself. The player gradually unlocks new weapons and upgrades, and missions alternate between offensive and defensive situations where you need to hold a position against advancing waves of enemies.

The game also offered online multiplayer, which was still a relatively fresh feature on Wii at the time, and modes like team firefights attracted players who wanted to experience online combat without needing a more powerful console. Graphically the game didn't reach the level of contemporary PS3 or Xbox 360 titles, but by Wii standards it offered decently crafted environments, sufficiently readable battlefields, and functional character animations. Pointer controls were praised at the time as one of the main draws — allowing faster and more precise reactions than typical analog controls, something appreciated even by players who normally didn't rate Wii shooters highly because of their often simplified graphics. The musical score built on the series' typically epic orchestral style, and together with the sound effects of gunfire and explosions it gave individual missions the necessary drama and tension.

Today Medal of Honor Heroes 2 is more of a forgotten episode in the series, but it shows well how much developers experimented with converting major FPS brands to motion controls in the early Wii era, and for fans of World War II in an arcade, action-focused presentation it still offers solid entertainment for a few evenings.
