Outspace Game

Outspace Game proves that the Czech browser-game scene didn't disappear along with Flash. It's an HTML5 game, meaning it runs in any modern browser without plugins, and it combines a space MMO with cards — a pairing that isn't common in this genre.

Players share one persistent universe where they build, trade, and fight, and cards handle abilities and units. As with the older text-based MMOs, it's played in pieces and over the long term: it's not a game for one evening, but about building something over the course of weeks. The main difference from the games of the 2000s is how it looks — HTML5 allows smooth graphics that the technology of that era simply couldn't manage.

For us it's interesting mainly as evidence of continuity. Browser games are often written off after 2020 as a closed chapter, yet the genre of persistent online worlds in the browser lives on — it just moved from Flash to JavaScript.
